The boys are out desilting one of our large ponds this afternoon. Silt builds up in the bottom of the ponds from waste and debris that falls in throughout the year which makes it difficult to net the fish and can aid the buildup of harmful bacteria. In order to make sure that our fish stay happy and healthy, and to make the boys jobs easier when they need to catch the fish, every few years we drain the ponds and remove silt. A bit of a muddy job so I’m glad I was stood on the bank! | The Carp Co
