With most a succinct and abrupt STOP, you can pretty much guarantee your fly cast won’t do well. When we STOP the rod and the rod straightens out, the line overtakes the tip of the fly rod and a loop forms. This is the “loop” we all dream about throwing when we get started fly fishing. It’s the loop we imaging in our heads when we imagine ourselves fly casting. Without a loop, we won’t have a good fly cast. Don’t be shy about it either. You won’t break the rod by stopping too hard, I promise! #f
