USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory webcam imagery analyses confirm that lava fountains erupted during episode 23 were the highest recorded so far in the ongoing eruption at the summit of #Kīlauea. Fountains from the north vent reached nearly 350 meters (1,150 feet) around 5:30 p.m. HST on May 25. Cooled pieces of lava (called tephra) falling from the episode 23 fountains contributed to a growing deposit on the southwest rim of Halemaʻumaʻu, in the hazardous closed area of Hawai'i Volcanoes Nation
