THE LOUVRE HEIST Thieves broke into the Louvre Museum in Paris, France, in broad daylight on Sunday morning. They stole eight royal artifacts, mostly jewels, from the Apollo Gallery (seen at center here) in under four minutes. They used a mechanical lift from the sidewalk along the Seine to reach a balcony, forced open a window, and smashed two display cases before escaping on motorcycles.
